Take The Pledge To Recycle Your Crocs

I love my Crocs! I love my very first pair of Crocs so much that until now I've refused to part with them. Translation....drop them in the dumpster. Both shoes are so worn they have holes in the bottom of them. I remember how distressed I was when I discovered I had holes in my soles.

Ever since having to retire them, I've kept them on a shelf, in a place of honor. But just now I discovered a site called SolesUnited.org. It's mission is to SHOE THE WORLD!

SolesUnited.org accepts your old, worn out Crocs and recycles them. Yep, they are ground up, recycled and made into new Crocs. Then they are given away to the poor of the world. Do you know that 1.2 billion people on this planet live in poverty? There are parents who are struggling to feed their kids let alone being able to provide them shoes.

Now through SolesUnited.org we can help put Crocs are people's feet who have never known the luxury of having protection for their feet.

These are the stores that will accept your donated Crocs: Younkers, Elder-Beerman, Boston Store, Carson-Pirie, Bon-Ton and P-Sues. You can go to the SolesUnited.org site, type in your zip code and you will be given the drop off point closest to you.

If per chance you are too far away from any of these stores than google: Crocs Recycling East (in Ohio) or Crocs Recyling West (in California). Write down the address and mail your Crocs in.

You can help shoe the world by donating your worn out Crocs. Do it today!

How To Chose The Right Size Croc For You

Because Crocs are such a unique style of shoe and now that they are coming in more and more different styles, its easy to become confused about what size Croc you wear.

I told this story when I first started blogging, about my first introduction to Crocs. I'd been out garage saling one Saturday morning and I had noticed a woman wearing these incredible looking shoes. I then continued on my way and an hour later I was at another garage sale and saw another woman wearing a pair of those peculiar looking shoes. So I asked her what they were.

"Crocs!" she said, "And I love 'em!" Here was this tiny petite woman wearing a pair of enormous Crocs.

I asked, "Where did you get them?"
"I had to order them online," she said. "When they arrived they were WAY too big. I was going to send them back for a smaller size but I couldn't bear to be without them because they are so comfortable. I live in them. I even do aerobics in them." The shoes looked enormous on her petite feet.

So you can see from this story that its easy to make the wrong choice in size. The first thing you need to know is whether the style of Croc you are interested in buying is a Unisex line. If it is then women, you have to think of choosing a size smaller then you normally wear in other more traditional shoes.

Keep in mind, on the whole, Crocs will run a bit large. They are designed this way on purpose for the comfort of your feet. Isn't that one of the reasons we love our Crocs? Our toes can have free reign inside the shoes.

Now the Beach model comes in sizes small, medium and large so you will have to get as close to your size as you can. You've heard the motto, "One size fits all"? With the Beach model, "three sizes fit all".

Keep in mind when it comes to the fleece lined Crocs for cold weather wear (the Mammoth) that of all the Crocs style lines, this is the one that probably comes closest to fitting your foot like a normal shoes. That's because your foot is meant to be nested, warm and snuggly like, inside the fleece lined Croc.

Ultimately the interesting thing about Crocs is that you can error and choose a Croc a little too big or WAY too big but they can still work for you because they are so dog gone comfortable.

Is Crocs In Trouble?

I just ran across this bit of news yesterday and wanted to share it. Apparently the Crocs brand is slipping a little and it may be time for current CEO Ron Snyder to step down. Or will the Board remove him?

Apparently Crocs established a strong niche shoe brand and through most of years 2006 & 2007 dominated the specialty shoe market. But then it stalled out and much of the blame is being aimed at Mr. Snyder.

In other words, for the present the Crocs shoe brand is stangnating. Seeing Crocs is a publicly traded company, shareholders are rumbling.

There is a call to find a new CEO who has a solid background in branding. Someone who can do for Crocs what the CEO did for the Nike brand.

In otherwords, Crocs needs a new CEO who can JUST DO IT!

For The Nurse Who Looks Older Than She Is Thanks To Sore Feet

You nurses work 8 or more hours a shift mostly on your feet and go home all to often with mighty sore feet. I bet so sore you have fantasies about quitting nursing altogether for a job where you get to sit a lot. But will that kind of work be as fulfilling or pay as well as nursing does?

Most people go into nursing because they are drawn to caring for others. But in order to care for others you must be sure to first take care of your own well being. And "NO" that doesn't make you a selfish person! So if, for instance, you're suffering from chronic sore feet then one of the best ways to take care of those feet is to invest in some Crocs Nursing Shoes.

Crocs obviously work because Crocs have become popular all around the world! Why? Because they make our feet happy while keeping them healthy.

Some of the benefits of wearing Crocs Nursing Shoes are-

  • they offer super foot support
  • this super support helps to align your skeleton which means less backaches
  • they are vented allowing your feet to breath
  • they offer good ventilation which ='s reduced chance of fungal and bacterial infections

Remember nurses - and this is important- if your feet are happy they will automatically put you in a better mood. And anything that does that will make you look younger or at the very least...your age!

What To Look For In A Good Nursing Shoe

One of the most common ailments that nurses suffer from is plantar fascitis better known as heel pain. If you could draw a triangle on the bottom of you heels making sure that one of the points of the triangle was pointing directly towards the back of your foot - this triangular area is the planar fascia. It's a band of tissure that gets stretched or torn due to wear and tear, i.e. such as prolonged standing on hard floors.

If you are a nurse suffering from heel pain, you probably notice it first thing in the morning when you get up out of bed for the first time and stand up. During the night your heel tissue begins to repair itself but as soon as you stand up you are in essence re-injuring that very same tissue.

Most people can't afford to take off from work while their injured heels are healing so what can you do ease your suffering? Artificial support goes a long way. In other words start using those gelled arch and heal support inserts. But remember, once you go to using arch supports you ALWAYS have to use them. The only time you should be without them is when your are showering/bathing or in bed.

So what kind of shoe will give a nurse the best chance of keeping her feet healthy and ache free?
Here are some critical must haves. As you read along see if you don't agree that Crocs Nursing Shoes provide you with all of these attributes.

  • You want to wear a shoe that has a toe box that allows your toes to spread out naturally. Your toes are vital to your balance and proper support of your body's weight. Stay away from shoes that are tight and pinch your toes. They don't allow your toes to do their job.
  • Look for a shoe that has a deep heel cup which will hold your heel tissue in place. If you don't have a cushiony heel cup your plantar fascia gets pushed to the side and no longer is in the proper place to cushion your bone.
  • Look for an unelevated heel to the shoe. A flatter soled shoe allows all the bones in your feet to properly support your body weight.
  • You want to look for a sole that is lightweight and has some cushion.

A MAN WHO CARES ABOUT HIS WORKING WIFE'S FEET!

I was surfing the net looking for some interesting tidbits on Crocs Nursing Shoes when I came across a posting a loving husband wrote regarding his wife who is a nurse. Apparently they were soon to travel to Minniapolis for a weekend getaway and he was asking for information on where he could take his wife to get a good pair of nursing shoes. Apparently she had tossed the shoes she had been wearing when she came home that night with sore and bleeding feet.

There were a number of comments responding to this gentleman's question. The one that caught my eye said this, "I'm not in healthcare but I have friends who are and they and I absolutely LOVE crocs. They're butt ugly but lightweight and very VERY comfortable. Since they are a pvb type vinyl, blood and other liquids do not stick or stain. Give them a shot!"

If that isn't a rousing endorsement of Crocs Nursing Shoes than I don't know what is!

CROCS GRIPPING POWER

Today while reading some content on how to care for my Crocs I became fixated on the paragraph talking about Crocs gripping power. That when you buy a new pair of Crocs they have incredible gripping power not unlike a new set of tires with lots of tread.

The piece went on to say that eventually as Crocs wear out they lose their gripping power. The soles can become too smooth leaving you having to be concerned about slipping.

I started thinking about my very first pair of Crocs. (I've written about them before). I still have them. I'm so attached them that I can't even think of tossing them. I want you to know that I an NOT a person prone to sentimentality but I'm obviously sentimental about my first pair of Crocs.

I did have to give up wearing them however because the soles got worn so smooth that when I wasn't repeatedly slipping on a few drops of water, I was suffering from blisters on the bottom of my feet from the holes in my Crocs. I did think I could patch them with duct tape but alas no. My Crocs were worn so smooth that not even the duct tape would stick.

Do keep an eye on the gripping power of your Crocs. They can be a danger especially if you have children who love to live in their Crocs just like I do.

HOW TO PICK THE RIGHT SIZE CROC FOR YOU FOOT

Crocs are not like any other shoes. Well no that's not exactly true. The first time I laid eyes on a pair of Crocs I thought of the infamous Earth Shoes that were famous back in the 1970's.
But Earth Shoes fit one's foot like a regular shoe. Crocs on the other hand should feel very lose on your feet. The sides of your feet shouldn't touch the inner sides of your Crocs. Your feet should feel quite free at all times. And when you put your feet into a pair of Crocs there should be anywhere from 1/4 to 1/2 inch of room between the tips of your toes and the inside of the Crocs.

This spacing holds true for your heels as well. If you put the Crocs on with the heel strap down, there should be enough room for you to easily fit your finger between the inside of the Croc straps and the heel of your foot.

Now having said all this I think there is one exception to these rules. And that is the Crocs Mammoth. This is the Crocs design that comes with an inner lining to keep your feet snug and warm in the cold months of the year. These fleece lined Crocs provide you feet with a snug, warm nest.

Crocs Professional For People Who Work On Their Feet

Crocs Professional line of shoes may just be the answer for your feet. No other line of shoe can offer you the bouyancy and support of these shoes. You can either take the care and health of your feet into your own hands by investing in a pair of Crocs Professionals or wait amd pay alot of money to a foot doctor down the line.
Sweaty feet is the bane of so many people. If your feet can't breath properly you can end up with sore chafed feet. Crocs Professional line of shoes have breathability designed right into them. The top of the shoe is enclosed for protection while side ventilation holes allow air to circulate around your feet keeping them dry.
The wide footbed offers your feet plenty of room. Its loose and allows your feet to bend and expand naturally which reduces your foot fatigue.
The back strap offers added support and improves overall performance. And ribs sculpted into the shoe work to channel away fluids from the foot.
Also sculpted into the shoe are circulation nubs which stimulate and massage the feet causing better blood circulation throughout the foot.
Too many people overlook the health of their feet. For most of us we don't even think of our feet until they start hurting. Crocs Professional line of shoes may just be the ticket and a bargain at that if you are at all concerned about maintaining the health of your feet.

Crocs Professional Uniform Shoe For Women!

This Crocs Professional level shoe allows your feet to naturally bend and expand. This shoe reduces fatigue too! There are side vent ports. Added ventilation means increased breathability. It also filters moisture and debris away from the footbed of the shoe.
The top of this particular Croc is enclosed. This serves to protect the foot from liquid and and other stuff that might intrude into the shoe.
I like the look and feel of this shoe with regard to a work shoe. Because all Crocs are formed from 100% Croslite resin each pair of Crocs offers good cushioning and spring to the feet. Its like walking around on two erasers. This, in my opinion reduces fatigue immensely.
The White Professional Uniform Shoe HAD to have been disigned with professional Nurses, nursing Assistants and general Medical staff in mind not to mention doctors.

CrocsRX "Relief" Model

Crocs shoes are growing in popularity and with popularity comes ever increasing lines designed for various segments of the population. You are looking at the CrocsRX "Releif" model.

The CrocsRX is a line designed specifically to give the wearer theraputic "relief" for various foot conditions. Please note the different colors that the Relief can be purchased in. Like all Crocs shoes, this model has a roomy and flexible shoe box. The sole is cushiony which is something I can't mention enough! Anybody who works on their feet for a living such as grocery store check out clerks, in house postal workers, factory workers, NURSES, should in my opinion all be wearing Crocs. Here's a suggestion and maybe I'll send it into the Crocs home office. Maybe for professions where you are required to wear safety shoes Crocs should look into designing a steel toed Croc.

I digress, back to the CrocsRX "Relief" model. This particular Crocs shoe is designed specifically to give the wearer relief from such foot conditions as planter pain, heel pain, general achy feel (an who doesn't suffer from that !?! and metarsalgia.

Crocs, its more than a sustained fad!

Crocs Hot Winter Nights Tour - Volleyball!

I've been a Crocs devotee since they first hit the market place so imagine how astounded I was to find out just this past weekend that Crocs is sponsoring the Hot Winter Night's Indoor Volleyball Tour. I must've been living under a rock!!

I found out about it when our local television station started advertising the Hot Winter Night's Tour in our city. This proves even more that Crocs is more than a sustained fad.

If Crocs can afford to sponsor a nationwide volleyball tour than that tells me that people are buying and continuing to buy Crocs. What a relief. I couldn't imagine life without my Crocs.

Or should I say my "feets" could not imagine life without their Crocs to cradle and cushion them all through the day.

Yes, Crocs are more than just a sustained fad.
